Blacker Hill
The memorial is located in a small park on Barnsley Road, Blacker Hill.
On Saturday 9th November 2013 at 2:00pm, there was a small service to commemorate the laying of a new memorial plaque and improvements to the War Memorial. The improvements and plaque have been organised by the Blackerhill Tenant and
Residents Association. The service was conducted by Reverend Lamb and the Hoyland and District Branch of the British Legion were in attendance. This included addition of names from WWI and a sole name for WWII on the new plaque.

Parents lived at 2 Quarry Road, Worsbrough from 1918-1926 Lived at 21 Watson's Yard, Worsborough Aberdeen (Trinity) Cemetery, Broadhill Extension The gravestone carries the inscription - His life A Beautiful memory; His memory A silent grief The regiment was on board the SS Archangel as part of a redeployment from Kirkwall, Orkney to Birmingham when it was attacked by German aircraft off Aberdeen. The ship was beached, but there were some casualties to both crew and the troops, including Pashley. |
