Bucharest War Cemetery Wellington mk X serial number MF198 coded QT-D was on a mission from Amendola, Italy to Bucharest, Romania. At 00:50 on 8 May 1944, a small amount of flak was seen near Caracal and an aircraft flying at 11,000 feet was seen to be hit and fall in flames. MF198 crashed at Farcasele in Romania, 8 km NE of Caracel. Hptm Ulrich von Meien of 2./NJG 100 claimed a Wellington shot down SE of Craiova at 00:46 and this could have been MF198, as no other aircraft crashed in this area during the night., all members of the crew were initially buried at Tâncăbești, but they are now buried in Bucharest War Cemetery Jack Palfreyman Civilian War Dead 11 December 1940, aged 30 of 3 Grantham Road, Sparkbrook.
